It is a commonly held belief that life is simpler and more innocent for schoolchildren than it is for adults, despite the fact that children refute this claim. I tend to think that adults look back at their school days through rose-tinted glasses and remember them as being perhaps better than they really were.

Nonetheless, it is true that children do not have the stresses associated with adults of finding a job, paying the bills and, in most cases, cooking, cleaning and shopping. As a result, it might seem that schoolchildren have an easier life, but there are equal amounts of stress involved with homework, tests and national exams that can determine your future. Some children are so stressed by sitting exams that they fail to reveal their true potential. Adults are not tested in the same way at the end of the year by their companies
There are other factors that can make school more difficult for teenagers. Peer pressure and being are realities for many children at school. In the adult world, this can exist too, but laws are in place which can protect workers from harassment by their boss or their company. Even without that, adults can choose to leave their job and join another company. Children do not have that escape hatch. I remember from my school one boy who suffered terribly from bullying. Today, he has his own company and is extremely successful. I doubt he looks back on his school days as being the best days of his life.
In conclusion, although I myself do not remember my school days as being traumatic, there is little evidence to suggest that life for children at school is better than it is for grown-ups.
